Blue-and-white Plate with Red Bats Qianlong Reign(1735-1795),Qing Dynasty

The plate had an opening mouth and the belly was not so deep. It had short round feet. The material of the plate was exquisite, hard and white and the model was clear, neat and light. First, it glazed white and then it turned light green. It decorated with “ Blue and White Connected HUI ( a Chinese character 回) pattern” belt out of the feet. It was decorated with red lucky clouds and bats in and outside of the plate. It marked “ Made In Qing Dynasty” (only for the official) in seal character at the bottom of the plate.
Bat pronounced “Fu” in Chinese which was homophonic with “luck”. As for the Chinese, there are five kinds of good lucks so they always use five bats pattern to show their best wishes. And the “red bat” was homophonic with “ Hong Fu” (great luck).
