Doucai (contending colors) Horseshoe-shaped Bowl with Posy Jingdezhen

The bowl has an opening mouth, deep stomach and round foot. The clay body is smooth and fine. The interior and exterior of the bowl were covered with white glaze which was clear and well-proportioned. There were two lines of blue-and-white belts around the exterior of the mouth. The main decoration of the bowl was flowers which were arranged in a circle. it was painted “Ru Yi” ( a traditional symbol for best wishes) at the bottom of the bowl. Also, it was marked “Made in Qian Long Reign” in seal character officially.
The contrasting color was more delicate in Qing Dynasty than it was in Ming Dynasty. It appeared up many new kinds of products which were used in daily life. Usually people chose the pattern of flowers in a circle to decorate the products. The overall arrangement was compact but inflexible.
