    Xiamen Museum was opened to the public. It hosted the first exhibition: The History of Xiamen, Construction of the Economic District of Xiamen, International and Domestic Communications, The Collection of Jades. The History of Xiamen is the basic exhibition.

Guo Zhenjia, deputy mayor of the city government office and Hong Biling, director of the propaganda department of municipal Party committee took part in the opening ceremony.

The new museum was testing to open. It has a basic exhibition: Ancient Stone Sculpture from Fujian and Taiwan and a temperately exhibition: Golden and Copper Buddha Statues from Baita Temple, Peking. In addition, visitors can take their collections which can be certificated by the professional excerpters for free

To organize the donation for Wenchuan where suffered strong earthquake. The Party Branch of the museum donated RMB3200 in total.

Mr.Johns the director of the famous Bishop Museum of the USA and the chairman, Mr. Akena came to visit Xiamen Museum with other15 accompanies. They enjoyed the trip and the two basic exhibitions impressed them a lot. After the visit of the museum, they donated for people in Wenchuan City, Sichuan Province where suffered a serious earthquake.

Taiwan Affairs Office, Cultural Department and Cultural Relics Bureau of Fujian Province united to host “The Family Trees of Fujian and Taiwan Province” and at the same time some relatives who are separated in these two provinces can have a chance to contact each other in Xiamen museum. Chen Yuanfeng, vice director of the Taiwan Affairs Office of China, Tong Mingkang, vice director of the Cultural Relics Bureau of China and the former vice director of the Committee of the National People's Congress, Qu Meng, vice director of the Communication Bureau in Taiwan Affairs Office, Su Wenjin, vice director of the Committee People’s Congress of Xiamen City and Gui Qiming, the vice president of the Municipal Political Consultative Conference of Xiamen City took part in the open ceremony. There are more than 6000 Family Trees Records on the exhibition in which there are 141 family names related with Taiwan and Fujian Province. It is the biggest exhibition on the family trees record. Some ancient records from Ming and Qing dynasty are first showed to the public. In addition, the museum exhibited some valuable antiques which are related to Taiwan. Some antiques are devices of the ancestors in Fujian and Taiwan such as Mazu Teraph, decorations of Kejia people and the box for containing the family tree. There are 69 “Relatives Searching” teams from Taiwan. 1100 people joined in the teams and there are 10 representatives changed their family trees during the open ceremony.

According to the requirement of the Administration of Cultural Heritage, Xiamen Museum developed the database of the relics which took 2 years and finished in April, 2011.

To celebrate the 60th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China, exhibition on Achievements of Tujian Historical relics and Musicology was held.

Three teams of the museum finished the task to investigate the relics and sites in Xiamen. There are profound relics that cannot be moved and most of them are found for the first time.2136 sites are recorded in which 1369 sites are new found which occupied 76.6%. To recheck 498 old sites this occupied 23.4%. There are 45 sites disappeared.

The Zheng Chenggong’s Memorial Hall cooperated with the Column “Traveling around China” of CCTV-4 to shoot the documentary “Legend of Zheng Chenggong” which was shown on 15th, June.

The column “National Treasure Files” shoot at the museum to make a documentary about “the plain tricolor glaze of Dharma sitting statue” –reserved in Xiamen Museum. The program was shown on 28th, July.

“Lujiang yacht” moved to a new place again. “lujiang yacht”  berthed at Haitian Port , Dongdu after it retired. It took 3 hours to be firstly moved from Haitian Port to the Culture and Art Center on 18th August in 2006. Now it was moved again and it was put at the Special Memorial and when it was repaired it would be exhibited to the public.
19th June- 25th July
To bring in the high quality cultural exhibition “Book- Tea-Flavor-Flower Masterpieces from Fujian and Taiwan”. Gu yucai, the vice-director of Cultural Bureau, Song Minwang, head of the Cultural Department of Fujian Province and Ling Xi, the councilor of Xiamen, participated in the open ceremony.

For cooperation with the International Fair for Investment and Trade, Xiamen, on 8th, Sep. , the museum hosted the Masterpieces Exhibition for Celebrating the Second International Investment Fair which attracted many visitors who were from in and abroad.

The Achievements Exhibition on the Third Investigation of the Relics in China
First-5th  October
Fujian Collection Union and Xiamen Museum cooperated to host “Liang Lianquan’s Collection of Ancient and Temporary Painting and Calligraphy Exhibition” which included some works of Fu Baoshi, Zhang Daqian, Xu Beihong, Qi Baishi, Li Keran,Master Hongyi, Wu Changshuo, Wu Guanzhong, Fan Zeng and so on.

The museum united Fujian Cultural Office, College of Humanities, Xiamen University, Faculty of Arts, Chenggong University, Taiwan to host the “Predestined Culture relationship between the Strait” to make communications on arts and literature between Taiwan Province and Fujian Province. There were more than 10 professors and researchers joined in and made lectures.

The staff of the museum and the archeologists of Haicang Cultural Office excavated the Pottery Site of Huangniu Mountain in Haicang District.

To hold the series activities to celebrate the Museum’s Day, Professional workers certificate the collections for the visitors and propagate related policies and regulations, knowledge on antiques. Some teams come to Jinshang Community to carry out the activities. They showed pictures to introduce Xiamen’s history, and the achievements of the third investigation on antiques in China.

When it is the National Cultural Heritage Day, the museum holds the exhibition “the Revolutionary History in Fujian to Celebrate 90th Birthday of CPC” and “National Treasures—High Quality Imitations on Painting and Calligraphy from all Ages”.

Fujian Literary Federation, Xiamen Museum, Minnan Culture Research Center of Jinmen University united to host the lecture “ Haixia Literary and Xiamen Forum” in 2012. Wang Qiugui, Professor of Qinghua University, Taiwan and Wang Bowei, Professor of Minnan Culture Research Center, make speech on “Strategies on investing Anthropology” and “New Methods to Research on the History of the Immigrants’ Location” separately. They introduced some new ways and experiences, ideas of the professors to research the immigrants’ locations in Taiwan.

Zheng Chenggong Memorial cooperated with the column of CCTV-4 to shoot the documentary “National Hero- Zheng Chenggong” and it was shown on first-4th, February on CCTV-4.

Xiamen Relics Protection Center edited “History of Xiamen’s Fortified Villages”. The book introduced 145 ancient fortified villages from Song Dynasty in Xiamen which is the first professional work about the fortified villages’ history.

The column “National Treasures” of CCTV-4 come to shoot the documentary again and it was shown in May. There were five series in total.

Zheng Chenggong Memorial cooperated with Fujian TV to shoot the column “ Secret Code of Zheng Chenggong” and the program was shown on Fujian TV, News Channel, during 16th – 18th  June when the “ Haixia Forum” was on in Xiamen.
9th April
The museum carries out lectures regularly. Every first Monday in each month, the museum will invite the professional staff who is at least an associate professor or gradated as postgraduate to make report that can improve the ability of all workers of the museum who can learn from each other.
14th April
It’s the second time to hold “Xiamen Forum: Communication between Taiwan and Fujian—Science Report in 2012”. The forum invited the Professor Huang Jiaqi, from Zhenxing Scientific Union who is the doctor in Kobe University make the report “Cultural development on worship the ancestors”.
25th April
The staff of the museum chooses a team to deal with the exhibition “Chinese National Folk Instruments”. They went to New Zealand to associate details about the exhibition with Gibson Company. The team discussed cooperation affairs with New Zealand and Australian Museums.
