Marionette
Collection situation
Known as “suspension puppets” in ancient times, marionette is an important dramatic form of the Han people in ancient China and has a long history. For simple marionettes, different strings are attached to the legs, hands, shoulders and the bottom of the spine. When performing, the actor manipulates the puppets through strings from above or those attached to the controller. Some can almost mimic all movements of humans and animals. Marionette is included in the first batch of national intangible cultural heritages.
