The Cauldron-Bearing Couple
Collection situation
As a kind of folk dance, the Cauldron-Bearing Couple has been popular in Southern Fujian in the mid-Qing Dynasty and has more than 300 years of history till now. It originates in the folk custom in Southern Fujian that, when statues of the town god and the lord go for a stroll, people are asked to “trample the path” by carrying a censer. It is praised as “an authentic folk art”.
