The four stone monkeys are called “Siwu Monkeys”. The 40-cm-height granite monkeys are classic and charmingly naive. One covers eyes, one covers ears, one covers mouth and one drop hands, meaning “Don't look at what you shouldn't see, Don't listen to what you shouldn't hear., Don't say what you shouldn't say、 Don't play what you shouldn't play.” This allusion is from the Confucian Analects, “Do not look at what is contrary to propriety; do not listen to what is contrary to propriety; do not speak what is contrary to propriety; do not do what is contrary to propriety.”.
