Shuko celadon

Collection situation

    This showcase exhibits the valuable Shuko celadon. In Song and Yuan Dynasties, a large quantity of celadon were made by the Tingxi Kiln in Tongan County, Xiamen and sold at home and overseas. Loquat yellow porcelains with curled grass and comb patterns are called “Shuko celadon” in Japan. According to historical records, Japanese monk Shuko Murata in the 15th century had used such Celadon tea bowl and loved it very much and highly praised it. So people call celadon bowls of Tingxi Kiln sold to Japan in the Southern Song Dynasty “Shuko celadon”.
