Pottery spinning wheels are spinning tools made of baked clay which appeared as early as in the Neolithic Age. With a hole in the middle, spindles come into being when bamboo and wooden shafts inserted in the hole, which are the earliest spinning tools invented by human beings as well as the originator of modern spinning tools. Pottery spinning wheels unearthed in the Tong’an Zhaizaishan site reflect that ancients in Xiamen have known how to spin and weave by this time.
